Our Beliefs

At St. George’s Baptist Church, our faith is anchored in the truth of God’s Word and centered on the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. We hold fast to the timeless doctrines of Scripture that guide our worship, shape our fellowship, and inspire our service to God and our community. The following statements summarize the foundational beliefs that define who we are and what we stand for.

  1. St. George’s Baptist Church believes in the authority of God’s inspired Word through the Old and New Testaments as the only sufficient, certain and authoritative body of saving knowledge, faith and obedience.

  2. We believe there is but one God, the Maker, Preserver and Ruler of all things, having in and of Himself all perfection and being infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience.

  3. We believe that God is revealed to us in the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes but without division of nature, essence or being.

  4. We believe in the providence of God and His election of the saints. We believe in the Fall of Man and Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, as the divinely appointed mediator between God and man.

  5. We believe in regeneration through the change of heart that is wrought by the Holy Spirit and repentance and saving faith that leads to justification and sanctification by the Holy Spirit.

  6. We believe in baptism, the Lord’s Supper and the Resurrection of the dead, either to eternal life or torment in the Day of Judgement.

  7. We believe that the Church is not only to look Heavenward, but is to be God’s hand extended in this world to bring relief, hope and joy to the suffering and needy by demonstrating God’s love and provision for them and by helping them to understand and receive the fullness of Christ’s wonderful, substitutionary death for all.
